Here's why Jennifer Lopez is responsible for the invention of Google Images
IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT Google Images.
Seriously, imagine not being able to Google “dog wearing sunglasses” on a total whim.
Well, it turns out that we all have Jennifer Lopez to thank for the invention of Google Images.
In an article penned for Project Syndicate, Google’s executive chairman Eric Schmidt wrote that the singer’s iconic see-through dress from the 2000 Grammy Awards prompted the creation of the image search function.
Schmidt explained that people wanted more than just text — namely, they wanted to perv on J-Lo’s dress.
And so Google Images was born and our lives were changed forever.
Thanks, Jennifer!
In case you need a reminder of that address, here’s an intensely awkward clip from the awards show in which David Duchovny and J-Lo flirt awkwardly on stage.
Cringe.
